Watchpoint Volunteers with Second Harvest Food Bank

This Month our Watchpoint Logistics team members rolled up their sleeves at Second Harvest of Silicon Valley’s San Jose warehouse. Together, they inspected, sorted, and boxed fresh plums for neighbors in need across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

The Watchpoint crew, Jay Bellin (President), Carlos Aguirre, Armando Carranza, Mina Tinajero, Debbie Castro, and Leonard Perez, spent the afternoon quality-checking fruit and packing it into 20-pound boxes for distribution. Within just two hours, the group processed over 13,000 pounds of plums. Each box packed will make its way to local tables through Second Harvest’s extensive network of community partners.

About Second Harvest

Founded in 1974, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is one of the largest food banks nationwide and a proud member of Feeding America. Each month, the organization provides nutritious food to nearly 500,000 people through a network of over 400 non-profits, schools, senior centers, soup kitchens, shelters, and rehab centers. Their mission: ensure that anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one, right here in our community.

Most of Second Harvest’s clients are working families struggling with the high cost of living in Silicon Valley. The food bank provides essentials like fresh produce, grains, and proteins, and also works to connect families to resources and advocate for long-term solutions to hunger.

A Tradition of Giving Back

This marks Watchpoint’s third volunteer event with Second Harvest, and we’re proud to make community service a central tradition in our company culture. At Watchpoint, we believe logistics is a team sport, and that spirit of teamwork drives our efforts to give back to the communities we’re part of.

We’re grateful to Second Harvest for the opportunity to support their mission to end hunger, and we look forward to many more afternoons of teamwork and service.
